Zapped to the Past
C64 games we played so you didn’t have to
The Commodore 64 gave us some of the finest games ever written. It also gave us an awful lot of the other sort.
Over five years and more than 1,600 games, Adrian Mills and Graham Raddings have worked their way through the back catalogue on the Zapped to the Past podcast: loading the tape, waiting out the ten minutes, and finding out whether the advert in the magazine had been telling the truth. It usually hadn’t.
This book collects their verdicts on the ones worth arguing about, from the genuinely brilliant to the frankly unplayable, alongside the period adverts that sold them to us and original illustrations by S. K. Baker. There are loading screens. There are excuses. And there is a great deal of affection for a machine that asked an awful lot of our patience.

The podcast
Zapped to the Past is a podcast about Commodore 64 games — the good ones, the bad ones, and the ones whose adverts promised rather more than the tape delivered. New episodes are available wherever you get your podcasts.
